Marion Waldman, MBA
Executive Director & Founder

If a parent or caregiver of an early or struggling reader can go to the library and get connected to the right resources, it can change lives.

Families of kids with reading and learning differences face unique challenges that many people are unaware of. For example, one of the most fundamental rights, receiving an education, is an all-consuming quest that often drains financial and emotional resources. Eight years ago, when Marion’s daughter was first diagnosed with a language disability, she thought that everything would fall into place, and her daughter would receive the services she needed. She quickly learned that an IEP or diagnosis was only the beginning of a long, uncharted adventure. After several years of talking with other parents and attending meetings with teachers and other professionals, Marion decided to focus her personal and professional skills on making a difference in the world of reading and learning differences.

As a Mom of an exceptional child with a reading difference, and an educational publisher, Marion has a unique perspective on the education system.  This perspective enables Marion to hone in on resources and instructional materials, and show how the right resources can be leveraged to help more children learn to read the way they need to be taught.

Marion started working in educational publishing as a sales representative for Appleton & Lange, which is now part of Pearson. She has worked for most of the large educational publishers in new product development, marketing, and content acquisitions/editorial. She has dreamed up and initiated new publishing programs and products, some of which are main-stays in education today. For the past decade, Marion was a partner in a small company, iD8-TripleSSS Media Development, that provided editorial, writing and courseware services to the educational publishers and related organizations. At id8, Marion developed a niche in assessments, and testing content for psychology and sociology.

Marion has a BA in English and History from Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York and an MBA from University of Maryland, University College. For a more complete bio, visit Marion’s LinkedIn page.
